At Double B Farms We use the timed AI CIDR synchronization protocol for breeding our cattle. No heat detection is used in this method.

CIDRs are a non-prescription synchronization product containing natural progesterone impregnated in a silicon rubber matrix over a nylon spine. These inserts are used in combination with GnRH and PG to facilitate an effective estrus synchronization program.

At the time of CIDR insertion (Day0), an injection of GnRH is given to facilitate follicular ovulation so a new wave of follicle growth can occur. The CIDR is removed on day seven and an injection of PG is administered. Depending on whether you are breeding cows or heifers you will inseminate at either 54 or 66 hours after CIDR removal and another GnRH injection is given.
